🥳I got my page back!

Hi Reader,

After two days of emotional distress, anxiety and loss of income, Instagram reinstated my page this morning.

How did I get it back?

If you've ever been in this situation, or know someone who lost their account, then you know how frustrating this is.

1. Pay for the blue tick

If you use your page for business, one of the most important things you can do to protect your account is subscribe to Meta's paid verification - yes, go ahead and pay for the blue tick! It's only $7.

Paid verification gives you access to Meta's support team. Without it, there is literally no way to get help from Meta. I pay for the blue tick on @kalilah.money, @moneymediaja and my Facebook page.

2. Use Meta Business Suite

If you're a professional creator, Meta Business Suite is a must! It allows you to set up all your Meta assets (Facebook pages, Instagram pages, Ads manager, etc) and control them from one central location. If something happens to one of your accounts, you can use it to contact support.

It also allows you to assign control or partial control of your Meta assets to another person. It's a good idea to do this in the event that you ever get locked out. At least a second person has a key, so to speak.

3. Create a backup page

When Meta disables your account, even the blue tick won't save you. You'll be locked out of your account, so there will be no way to use your account to contact Meta.

That's where having a backup account connected via Meta Business Suite comes in handy. The only way I was able to reach Meta support was through my @moneymediaja page.

4. Request a what's app chat or phone call

Leaving a message for Meta support was no help. However, Meta support does give you the option to request a what's app chat. We were able to finally get through using this channel this morning and chat with a real person. This is what prompted the reinstatement.

But we still wanted to know what happened? Why did I get banned?

After our chat, a representative from Meta actually called us on the phone. The technical team didn’t say why it happened, but that it was probably a technical error. The fact that it was reinstated so quickly means that there wasn’t anything wrong on the page.

So basically, they can ruin your business for no good reason.

Please follow my other pages

The big lesson here is to create redundancy and layers to your social media, if you are using it professionally.

As frustrating as this was, I wasn't freaking out because I know we've taken the time to build out other platforms - I'm on TikTok, YouTube, Twitter and LinkedIn. All my content is on my website, moneymediaja.com, and backed up to the cloud. And I can also reach you via email.

My business page on IG @moneymediaja is still active as well. If you like and support my content, please follow me on all platforms to ensure that you're not left out in the event something like this happens again.

Thanks a mil for your support!

Let's get this money!

My main IG page is gone! Six years of work, 118k followers gone! Hi Reader, Instagram randomly deleted @kalilah.money on Monday with no reason given and no option for appeal. The message only said, "Your account, or activity on it, doesn't follow our community standards". I have no idea what I did to cause this. I've been racking my brain, but nothing is standing out as something that might warrant being permanently banned. I'm trying to work my contacts to see if there's any opportunity for...

Proposed Law Will Impact Jamaican AirBnBs Should Airbnb operators in Jamaica be fined if they don’t register with the Government? Jamaica’s government recently proposed a bill that would regulate the short term rental industry. We’ve known that this law was coming for a while. Airbnbs are massively popular here and growing. Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett said the sector brought in over US$100 million in 2022. And nearly one out of every three stay-over visitors to Jamaica stayed at an...
